AAMBAA 2013
The 2013 and 2014 AAMBAA classes contain one of the largest groups of African, Caribbean and African American students of any business school in the world.
WMY Conference: Since 1973, AAMBAA has hosted the Whitney M. Young. Jr Memorial conference to commemorate the legacy of Whitney M. Young, an influential author, humanitarian, civil rights activist, and – most notably – head of the National Urban league. Over the last three decades, the conference has evolved into a weekend event which invites 300 students, alumni, educators, and business professionals from around the world to discuss issues facing the black business community. Since its founding, the Conference has worked to honor the contributions of Whitney Young and to further his legacy. It is the oldest student run conference at The Wharton School and one of the largest of its kind in the nation.
AAMBAA 101: Intro to Wharton – AAMBAA 101 is a pivotal event that helps students transition to Wharton. This semester, AAMBAA has teamed up with Spark to mentor local Philadelphia teens.
Spark addresses the drop-out crisis by connecting volunteer professionals with underserved, at-risk, 7th and 8th graders in workplace apprenticeships to "spark" their potential. Through hands-on activities within a meaningful adult relationship, Spark mentors help students understand and re-engage in the relevance of their education.
This spring, Spark will serve sixty 7th and 8th graders from three West Philadelphia schools (Lea, Mastery Shoemaker, and McMichael).
